THINK SUMMIT- SUPERHERO SHOWDOWN
10 AUGUST, 2024
DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL
R.K. PURAM, DELHI
SUMMARY
Delhi Public Schools are known for organising events that bring out the best in children. Keeping with the tradition, D.P.S., R.K. Puram, Delhi, organised an event titled THINK SUMMIT on 10th August 2024.
The event had a multitude of competitions ranging from an INNOVATION MARATHON to INTERGALACTIC ADVENTURES. All of them were designed to help the students in showcasing their talents.
It was an amalgamation of online and offline events. The multi-talented lot of Delhi Public School, Knowledge Park-V participated in all the events. The best of the displays from multiple schools across India were showcased in the competition.
I was given an opportunity to guide the students for two of the most creative events of the lot i.e. Superhero showdown and the Intergalactic adventures. Students of Delhi public school, Knowledge Park-V were asked to audition for the same.
I was surprised by the depth of the ideas that were given to me by the children. Though all of them were great, we had to select the best from the extremely innovative ones.
Riyanshi Gupta, VI-H submitted a rough sketch depicting a girl with green powers, converting the waste material into trees. The idea was in perfect consonance with the competition’s theme which required the students to design a green superhero having powers that contribute to the well-being of the environment. We sat together and finalised an imaginary girl GREENIARA, having the power to convert the mountainous landfill sites across the world into lush green forests, complete with clean rivers and wildlife. The idea was loved by the judges as well and she went on to win the Second place in the competition.
Sachleen Kaur Dhawan, VII-A submitted another intriguing and deep idea for the INTERGALATIC ADVENTURES- Comic strip designing competition. She designed a comic strip which depicted the effect of the gravitational force of various heavenly bodies on humans. Since the Moon and the Sun can pull water in the oceans and cause tides, they might have some effect on our bodies in a similar way as we also have more than 51 percent water in our bodies (Mostly in blood). Also, the hormones which determine our decision making prowess, body health etc. are released into the blood and then caste their effects on our behaviour. This was quite an interesting concept as it was fitting well with the theme- Designing a comic strip that might depict a true legend or a myth related to our heavenly bodies, preferably the Moon. Since this is a true legend and has a base in astronomy, it appealed well with the overall thought process.
The students loved these themes and were very excited to be a part of it. Their innovative thought and art prowess gave us a concrete base to feel proud of them. I would like to thank our Principal ma’am, Delhi Public School, Knowledge Park-V for letting us be a part of this opportunity.
